Past Layouts

These here are the past versions of Quiescent. They are organized so the bottom most images are oldest and the top most images are recent versions. Enjoy a bit of Quiescent's history!

Version 4

Title: Remilia Scarlet: Scarlet Heartbreak
Series: Touhou
Characters: Remilia Scarlet
Used: February 12, 2010 - July 11, 2010
Details: As you may have noticed. I absolutely love big headers. Ha ha, it's true! This layout went through three resizings since the header was so huge. This layout was such a pain to code. In the end, it looked horrible in Internet Explorer 6. I loved designing this layout though. The brushes and the textures at the back blended well together. I had a hard time finding a suitable text for the title, though. Coding took about a week and a half while designing only took about two days. I'm pretty proud of myself on how I got the blacks to match with the pinks/magentas.

Version 3

Title: Digitalize the Holidays: It's Time to Start Up the Season!
Series: ???
Characters: ???
Used: December 9, 2009 - February 12, 2010
Details: Besides the incredibly long title, this layout was very fun to make. I wanted to use an image that didn't truly involve the holidays in the traditional classic way or reds and greens, presents, Santa Claus, etc. This image was prefect for not fitting the requirements. It had a holiday theme but was depicted in a sort of "techie" way. The original image had text overlapping the girl's hair and background so I painstakingly retouched it, added a few textures, selective colouring effects, and BAM! A tad bright when viewed on a very bright computer screen but very nice in my opinion.

Version 2

Title: There is no Escape
Series: Rozen Maiden
Characters: Suigintou
Used: August 10, 2009 - December 9, 2009
Details: I'm quite proud of this layout. I really wanted to create a layout better yet different from version 1 of Quiescent. I tried using a different design style from what I am used to, adding a heck load of textures and what not. This layout is kind of a reminiscent of Pandaemonium's Dark Beauty layout back in the days when I first started designing. I was aiming for the "dark" kind of atmospheric look but it looks like I have failed. Coding this layout was pretty difficult since I had a lot of trouble on the colour scheme and positioning. Hey, I just realized that my hosts name is bigger than my actual site's name! Ha ha. THe end result for this layout was great for me. This layout could even double as a Halloween one. I'm killing two birds with one stone, awesome.

Version 1

Title: Voices
Series: Saya no Uta
Characters: Saya
Used: February - August 10, 2009
Details: Before this version came, I had made many other layouts which had failed to achieve "awesome" status. This layout was inspired by an icon I had made when I was trying to get over my designer's block. I had major problems because My brain was all muddled up at the time with school and personal things. I thought to myself, "Hey, why not make it layout-sized?" I spent three days on this layout and another for coding. I had a lot of trouble with the positioning of Saya, and whether or not this and that worked. In the end, it ended up looking pretty good. I had higher expectations for this layout but the coding didn't mash well together and I eventually gave up! xD There was also going to be a fancy background but it frustrated me so I had to exclude it. To my surprise, I was actually not expecting a "green" layout! I don't work well with greens and yellows, but I love this layout! It's a good start. :P
